Our 2013 holiday special continues right on along with Part 3 of "A WTA Christmas Carol"! SurferClock awakens at the hour of 2 by elegant clock chimes, where he then encounters the Ghost of Christmas Present! The character gracing the cover art next to SurferClock this time is none other than Sir Fineas of Cloxemberg, a character introduced in RIP - Jaws (episode 30) as show writer Tapford Gifford's older brother. A WTA Christmas Carol - Part 1

Season's greetings, listeners. SurferClock here, along with TAP-G, to bring you the latest episode of "What's the Attraction?"

We're going to be taking an extended break from standard attraction reviews to bring you guys a holiday special spanning four non-canon episodes! This year, we're taking on Charles Dickens' holiday classic, "A Christmas Carol," by putting a special WTeamA spin on it! In it, SurferClock acts as an Ebenezer Scrooge figure who loses his Christmas spirit and starts to become jaded and cynical as the result of holiday crowds at the parks becoming even more jaded and cynical than in years' past. In Part 1, the story begins at the WTA Holiday Party on Christmas Eve, where TAP-G is holding a real humdinger of a holiday party...and that's where we'll let you drop in...

Episode 62 - The American Adventure

Hello, everyone! SurferClock here, along with TAP-G, to bring you the latest episode of "What's the Attraction?"

Today, we're taking a look at one of Epcot's major highlights that doesn't reside in Future World... The American Adventure opened with the park on October 1, 1982. The nearly-30 minute show is like a personal tour through American history led by Benjamin Franklin and Samuel Clemens (aka Mark Twain), starting right from the Mayflower all the way up until the early 2000s. Highlighting the experience are several songs including "Golden Dreams" and "Two Brothers," the former of which made our Top Ten Best Theme Park Songs list. Is it worth a look? Check out the review below!

Episode 61 - Twister: Ride it Out!

Hey there, folks! SurferClock here, along with TAP-G, to bring you the latest episode of "What's the Attraction?"

This week's podcast takes us back over to Universal Studios Florida to review another of those long-standing attractions that Universal seems to have in ever-dwindling abundance. As rides and shows are razed or fixed up, some seem to stand the test of time. Twister: Ride it Out! opened in Universal Studios Florida in May of 1997, and actually experienced a delayed opening due to tornadoes that ravaged Central Florida in February of that same year. The attraction continues to be something of a draw for guests visiting the park, and those very same guests complained hard and loud enough to bring it out of a state of seasonal operation in 2009, only a month after that seasonal operation began.

Was it really worth all that? Will you have to, as Universal claims you must on their website, "grab onto the railing or be sucked into the swirling vortex of a tornado?" Find out with our review!

Episode 60 - Top Ten Franchises We Want to See in the Parks

Welcome back, listeners! SurferClock here, along with TAP-G, to bring you the latest episode of "What's the Attraction?"

In today's special episode, we're bringing you a Top Ten list that's sure to fuel the speculative fire...straight from the Wishful Thinking Rumor Mill, we bring you the Top Ten Franchises We Want to See in the Parks! The bread and butter of any large theme park are those fan-filled, money-printing, passion-inspiring franchises that get rides, shows, restaurants, and gift shops where fans and first-timers can come together and experience the wonder and joy of their favorite pieces of pop culture coming to life before their eyes! As a rule, we only included franchises that are not already in the parks, though we do speculate about potential locations.

DISCLAIMER: NONE OF THESE FRANCHISES HAS BEEN CONFIRMED FOR DEVELOPMENT. THIS IS SPECULATION ONLY! WE DO NOT HAVE ACCESS OR INSIDER INFORMATION!

Episode 59 - Mad Tea Party

Salutations, listeners! SurferClock here, along with TAP-G, to bring you the latest episode of "What's the Attraction?"

Today, we're heading back over to Fantasyland and grabbing a spot of tea...of spinning tea, that is! Yes, we are reviewing the classic Disney attraction, "Mad Tea Party!" This attraction opened not only with Disneyland in 1955, but also with Walt Disney World in 1971. It's a dizzying experience that continues to be a perennial favorite of guests old and young to this day! But why -is- it the gold standard to which all other "spinning saucer" rides are compared? We delve a little into that and review this attraction in a way only WTA could bring it to ya! Check out the link below for the review.

Episode 58 - Universal's Horror Make-up Show

Hey-lo there, listeners! SurferClock here, along with TAP-G, to bring your the latest episode of "What's the Attraction?"

In the spirit of the upcoming holiday, TAP-G and I wanted to tackle something a little spookier than usual, and with Haunted Mansion and Tower of Terror out of the way already, I figured it'd be best to hit something at one of the other, decidedly non-Disney parks. With limited options for true scares (TAP-G does indeed refuse to accompany me to Halloween Horror Nights), we settled in on arguably the funniest of the frights: Universal's Horror Make-up Show! Opening with Universal Studios Florida in 1990 (the only other true attraction to do so that remains with us today is the E.T. Adventure), it takes us behind the scenes and reveals the secrets behind bringing those monsters to life before the reliability of computer-generated imagery. After all these years, the show still has upwards of 10 shows a day! How does it hold up? Find out, but beware! Spooky surprises await.

No episode tomorrow

Hey folks! SurferClock here with a quick little update regarding tomorrow's episode, Universal's Horror Makeup Show.

The show's being delayed until next Monday due to a little mishap with some fake blood and a few misplaced movie props. Yeah, it's an audio show, but just try telling that to TAP-G. Poor guy fainted at the sight of some fake blood, and I can't find my vintage monster masks anywhere! While I search the studio and try to get him recovered, we'll be taking a little show break.

Theme Park Reel-views #1 - Song of the South

Welcome, listeners! SurferClock here, along with TAP-G, to bring you an interesting little experiment.

We asked on the Facebook if you would like us to review Song of the South, given that we just did Splash Mountain a few episodes ago. When the response ended up generally positive, we wanted to launch into it as soon as we could...after securing our copy of the film thanks to an adorable fuzzy cartoon character (listen to the Splash Mountain episodes), we review and rate the film. The episode is a little longer than our standard episodes, but we make some really great points, and you get to look at a cover art that I drew for once! (....yeaaaah, I'm no Kyle Blanchette, who provides our cover art) Check it out and let us know what you think...if it's any good, then we'll keep Theme Park Reel-views around as a special segment and review some other films that inspire theme park experiences!

Episode 57 - Captain EO

(Apologies for the late blog post, folks!)

Hey there, listeners. SurferClock here, along with TAP-G, to bring you the latest episode of "What's the Attraction?"

There's nothing more quintessentially 80s than the music of Michael Jackson...what, with the impeccably timeless Thriller album, Bad, and Smooth Criminal. It seems Jackson could do no wrong for some time to come. Many folks may overlook one of MJ's most unique contribution, one tied to the Walt Disney Company. Together with the talents of George Lucas and Francis Ford Copolla, Epcot played host to this 3-D film from 1986 to 1994 before being replaced by Honey, I Shrunk the Audience. There it languished in the Disney vault (we have to wonder if Song of the South shared any good stories with it!) until an event that rocked the world...Michael Jackson died at the age of 50 in 2009. Millions of fans came together to mourn the loss of this pop icon, but Disney stepped up to bring a rather unique tribute in 2010 to honor his legacy. Saved from ending up as an RIP segment, today we review Captain EO, restored to its former glory and revived for a whole new generation of fans to enjoy. So, what did we think? Our opinions might surprise ya, so make sure you don't miss this review!

Episode 56 - Splash Mountain (Part 2)

Hey, folks! SurferClock here, along with TAP-G, to bring you the latest episode of "What's the Attraction?"

Last week, we began our look into Splash Mountain, Disney's log flume ride based on 1946's "Song of the South," an oft-maligned Disney film still residing within the Disney vault. Part 1 concluded with a bang, and now our critics are in the rather strong paws of B'rer Bear, forced to look on as B'rer Fox preps B'rer Rabbit for some stew...rabbit stew! As Uncle Remus finishes telling the tale, we get around to finishing the description of the ride before dishing our our review and discussion. How will our heroes get out of this without asphyxiating or becoming stew? Tune in, sit a spell, and find out!

Episode 55 - Splash Mountain (Part 1)

How do ya do, listeners? SurferClock here, along with TAP-G, to bring you the latest episode of "What's the Attraction?"

And boy have we got a treat for you guys this week! Remember at the beginning of "What's the Abduction?" where we made a sincere attempt to try and review "Splash Mountain" before all that crazy stuff happened to TAP-G and I?

...no? OK then. (Sheesh you should really go back and watch What's the Abduction!)

In all seriousness, our intent has been (for quite some time) to deliver a quality review of Splash Mountain, Disney's log-flume ride that's inspired by 1946's "Song of the South," a Disney feature film that's been tucked in the ol' animation vault for quite some time. TAP-G is an avid fan of the film, and though there remains no legitimate, non-pirated ways to view it, we wanted to tackle both ride and film for the purposes of completion (and so he'll stop bugging me to try and watch "Song of the South" for the umpteenth time). Now, after alien abductions and several special episodes, it's finally time for our Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah-Day at WTA...this is Part 1 of our two-part Splash Mountain review!

Correction to previous post... WTA Labor Day Break upcoming

Hello there, folks. SurferClock here with a quick show schedule update.

As it turns out, I've been rather negligent regarding checking the calendar, as I've only just learned today that next Monday, which was supposed to be a Versus episode of "What's the Attraction?", falls on Labor Day. There will be no new episode in commemoration of the Labor Day holiday...as many of you likely will, we'll be spending the day relaxing and enjoying the fruits of our labor.

Don't forget that if there are any episodes you have yet to see, you can always catch up on 'em via the WTA Podcast YouTube channel! So much has happened on the show over the past year, it's hard to keep track of it all.

If necessary, I'll make another post Monday, should anything change. Otherwise, we here at WTeamA (SurferClock, TAP-G, and TowerGirl) wish you all a safe and happy Labor Day (and subsequent long Labor Day weekend)!

Hello, happy Netizens! SurferClock here along with TAP-G to bring you the latest episode of "What's the Attraction?"

Episode 52 - Jim Henson's Muppet*Vision 3-D (Part 1)

Greetings, listeners! SurferClock here, along with TAP-G, to bring you the latest episode of "What's the Attraction?"

Let's just begin outright by saying that this episode came by popular demand...'cause who doesn't love numerous executions of well-done puppetry? Among the most famous of all puppet crews are those loveable denizens of denim...the Muppets! They are revered and honored by so many that today, we wanted to review Jim Henson's Muppet*Vision 3-D over at Disney's Hollywood Studios! It's not their first effort at DHS, however, as "Here Come The Muppets" was where Voyage of the Little Mermaid is today in 1990 and "Days of Swine and Roses", a live stage show featuring the Muppets, played near this attraction up until 1994.

When the Muppet crew heard we were going to cover their last-remaining theme park attraction, they invited us to take part in a special episode of "The Muppet Show." How could we not take them up on that offer?

So! In a style that only that colorful cast could pull off, we're making this review a two-parter! Enjoy, folks, and Part 2 is coming next week!

Fed Up #3 - Why Are Theme Park Employees So Mean?

Hello everyone! SurferClock here to bring you the latest episode of "What's the Attraction?"

TAP-G's last episode of Fed Up!, in which he discussed the perceived stupidity of some theme park guests got me to thinking...is it really -always- their fault? We all know of incidents and instances where Guests flip their lid due to things said to them or done to them by theme park employees...and let's face it: not every employee is a happy, shining example of company values. Yes, there are cases where the young lady letting you onto the ride may not be having the best day...there are days where the older gentleman scooping your ice cream isn't having a zip-a-dee-doo-dah-day, and even the cheesiest of smiles can hide self-loathing. Then, there are just plain jerks who haven't realized they are in the wrong industry.

On the other side of that, there are negative perceptions that affect some people's view of all theme park employees, a blanket judgment that, quite simply, isn't fair.

I'm here today to run down reasons, some legit, some not, that theme park employees can seem so mean.

Fed Up #3 - Why Are Theme Park Employees So Mean? on YouTube

In the episode, I also call for comments regarding theme park experiences that rub folks the wrong way. I only ask that it be kept civil, as particularly inflammatory comments will be removed.

It's an attraction featuring everyone's favorite animated feathered friend, Donald Fauntleroy Duck (yes, that is his name, thank you very much), as he makes a mess of what's supposed to be an elegant night at the opera. Episode 50 - The Enchanted Tiki Room

Greetings, folks, and chunky tuna tostada! (Don't ask, TAP-G wanted this here) SurferClock here along with TAP-G to bring you the latest episode of "What's the Attraction?"

Well, we've reached another milestone in WTA history...50 episodes! To celebrate, we found out that a great attraction is celebrating 50 years, so...close enough! The Enchanted Tiki Room (also called Tropical Serenade and Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room) opened in Disneyland out west in 1963. While we might be cheating on this one a bit, we also found something interesting in our discussions about this attraction...one of us loves the classic version that's returned to Walt Disney World, while the other actually misses "Enchanted Tiki Room - Under New Management!" Yes, that version from 1998 that stuck with Walt Disney World until 2011...so while we, uh, hash out our differences, you guys get something of a double review, where we rate both Under New Management and the current incarnation!

Fed Up #2 - Why Are Theme Park Guests So Stupid?

How's it going, everybody? TAP-G here to bring you the second in a lineup of solo segments called "Fed Up!" This week, I get to take the reins and talk about something that has me irked about the theme park experience.

Undoubtedly, we've all run into the occasional guest that seems either brainless or out of control. When you've been to the theme parks as much as I have, it can almost seem like it's becoming more and more prevalent, especially during the busy summer months. But the more I thought about it, the more dissatisfied I was with the soundbyte answers and decided to probe deeper into the issue.

Below are my Top 5 reasons why I believe this phenomenon occurs. Are the guests -really- the only ones to blame, or is there more of a deep-rooted issue at work here? If you have any input regarding this, please feel free to leave a comment.

Fed Up #1 - Assistance Pass Abuse

Hello, friends! SurferClock here to finally give you guys some new content! Yes, after a few weeks, I am finally able to debut a new segment that can be produced by one host: Fed Up!

Fed Up is a segment in which one of us talks or rants about something that happens during our park adventures that irks us. Today's Fed Up segment by yours truly talks about the issue of Assistance Pass Abuse, mentioning a New York Post article in brief before delving into the issue itself. I hope you enjoy it.

WTA Hiatus

Hello there, intrepid listeners. SurferClock here to bring you, well, some good news and some bad news on our end.

The good news is that my family is doing fine, the emergency has been resolved, and I appreciate all of you who wished us well. The bad news? Well, just keep reading.

Now, it's no secret that TAP-G and I are podcasters, bringing you new episodes of "What's the Attraction?" on a weekly basis. However, that is not all we do (because this podcast doesn't make us money), and due to some rather drastic schedule changes with the jobs that we do helm to bring in the money, it has become necessary to delay the taping and release of new episodic episodes for the podcast until further notice.

We, too, are disappointed to have to take a measure this drastic, especially with the ominousness that we left you guys on at the end of Episode 42. In order to continue providing the very best podcast experience, this hiatus has become necessary, at least until things calm down for the cast

In the meantime, and should this hiatus extend to any length of time, we are looking into producing solo segments with one host (likely myself) to bring bits of information relevant to our purpose to you. The last thing I want is for this podcast to dry up after just one year, and we will do everything we can to get this thing back in motion! You can also be assured that our Facebook page will also stay updated with the latest news.

Thank you all for understanding, and stay tuned for more information!

What's the Attraction turns 1 year old!

Hello there, folks! SurferClock here to bring you a little update regarding the show.

"What's the Attraction?" launched right here in this very blog 1 year ago today! Hard to believe it, but the show's already been around for a year. Although things started off rough with 45-minute podcasts and bloopers galore, we appreciate not only those of you who stuck around though all of that, but those of you who just got on board and have yet to check out all we've had to offer. Yes, the early episodes were admittedly sort of bad, but it takes time to truly find one's groove, and you have to admit we've got it down to a science now!

This is an update to let you all know just how much we (that is, TAP-G, TowerGirl, and I) appreciate you, and that we sincerely hope you'll stick around. The future's looking bright for this show, and we hope you will all be along for the ride.

Episode 42 - The Top Ten Attractions That Deserve to be Nuked

Hey there, folks! SurferClock here along with TAP-G to bring you the latest episode of "What's the Attraction?"

We've reached another 6th episode, which means it's time to bring you guys another of our rotating specials! We're back to a Top 10 list, and this is probably the one most folks have been looking forward to (if not just to post dissenting opinions and wonder what we've been smoking)...now, we realize most of the time it seems like we're breathing in the very essence of everything good about these parks, and it kinda makes us look like we're theme park mega-fans who wouldn't dare say a bad thing about them...but as you folks who've followed us since the start have seen, this hasn't always been the case. And while we still have a lot of attractions to review, today, we're going to take both attractions we haven't given the WTA treatment to and some of our -least- favorites. mix 'em in our nifty Countdown Blender, and bring you the Top Ten Attractions That Deserve to be Nuked!

These are the rides and shows that underwhelm, that fail to entertain, that you'd sooner skip than give another chance to, and that you can only hope that Disney Imagineering / Universal Creative / SeaWorld R&D has next on their to-demolish list.

Episode 41 - Wild Arctic

Greetings, listeners! SurferClock here along with TAP-G to bring you the latest episode of "What's the Attraction?"

It may surprise you to learn that in 40 episodes of this podcast, there's still one of the Big Three that we've been neglecting...but today, that's all going to change. We are finally going to begin our coverage of SeaWorld Orlando! Now, keep in mind that SeaWorld currently operates three main parks in the United States: SeaWorld San Diego, SeaWorld San Antonio, and SeaWorld Orlando. Some of the attractions we review may be shared by one or more of the parks, and so far as we know, the attractions should be relatively about the same...if there are any noted differences we find in our research, we'll be happy to share 'em.

For now, though, let's get this new park started with a trip to the Arctic! SeaWorld's Wild Arctic experience opened up in 1992 in Orlando and 5 years later in the San Antonio park. This motion-simulator brings you on an adventure that eventually ends with you entering the "Franklin Research Center," a thinly-veiled research center featuring a series of exhibits displaying polar bears, walruses, and beluga whales. In addition, there are a few interactive cameras and other pleasant extras for the kiddies.

Aside from a seasonal facelift each Christmas to simulate a "Polar Express Experience," the attraction hasn't undergone too many changes...how does it hold up after a little over 20 years? Find out with our review today!

Also, if you can't tell by now, we've done away with the whole Slingfile thing. Podcasts will begin to disappear from there, so please let us know if you'd still like to get MP3s of the podcasts, and we'll see what we can do about hosting.

Episode 40 - When Rides Go Down

Hello, listeners! SurferClock here along with TAP-G to bring you the latest episode of "What's the Attraction?"

This week, instead of reviewing a theme park attraction, we wanted to see what it might be like if we could bring you all along on a ride-through on a little known attraction that's actually open (as opposed to riding through attractions that are closed, brought back by Reese)! Though, things don't always go as planned...

If you've ever been on a ride that's suddenly stopped, gone down, and overhead announcements begin to play, and you don't know when you were going to move again, have we got an episode for you! I'm sure you've all wondered, at one time or another, what the proper etiquette is when a ride goes down. So, whether you're stuck on the ride or in the line, we've got a few tips for how to handle things...WHEN RIDES GO DOWN!

WTA Co-Host Illness Recovery Break

Hello, everyone. SurferClock here to bring you a little update regarding the show's status this week.

The day after Test Track (link below in the previous post, check it out if you haven't already!), I began not feeling well. The weather decided it was going to go through a nice, rapid change for spring, and that usually affects me in the very worst way, most often with my sinuses.

Long story short, I've spent the past week in various stages of general bleghiness, sinus troubles, all that sort of thing. When I realized that my voice was still sounding more than a little funny yesterday, I spoke with TAP-G, determined that the podcast would sound a little too different with my voice the way it was, and came to the decision that, although I did say there would be a new episode today in the previous post, unfortunately it wouldn't be a very good-sounding episode.

This week, the show is taking a break so I can get myself and my voice back to 100% or closer to it. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, and we really hope to get back rolling next week.

Episode 39 - Test Track

Hello there, listeners! SurferClock here along with TAP-G to bring you the latest episode of "What's the Attraction?"

Today's adventure brings us over to Epcot, where it seems something is awry...at least, that's what my co-host would have you believe, anyhow. In any case, we're going to take a look at Test Track. If you haven't seen it in a while, you may notice that it's sporting a new coat of paint...

Test Track operated for a little over 13 years "as presented by GM." The generalization was downsized to more specifically reflect Chevrolet's line of vehicles, not so much GM as a whole. The overall presentation received a facelift bringing it into the future...rather than going out onto the test track and putting a GM vehicle through the paces (as it was before), you're building a SimCar and specifying its parameters to best match performance statistics such as Capability, Efficiency, Responsiveness, and Power...the Chevrolet branding is more along the lines of the post-ride exhibits as specific models are represented alongside you as you take your pictures.

For some reason, my co-host has taken this switch to mean that the original has somehow gone missing! Just wait 'til he realizes that it's still the same ride...I hope he realizes it, anyway.

More importantly, is this new coat of paint really worth the time it spent out of commission, or do we miss Bill McKim just as much as I'm sure a few of you do as well? Listen in and find out!

Episode 39 - Test Track on YouTube

Also, if you can't tell by now, we've done away with the whole Slingfile thing. Podcasts will begin to disappear from there, so please let us know if you'd still like to get MP3s of the podcasts, and we'll see what we can do about hosting.

Episode 38 - Fantasmic!

Hello again, listeners! SurferClock here along with TAP-G to bring you the latest episode of "What's the Attraction?"

We're hopping back over to Disney's Hollywood Studios to engage in what many consider to be its best experience...taking in its nighttime show, Fantasmic! This Disneyland favorite premiered  May 13, 1992 to astounded audiences, who were amazed by the combination of pyrotechnics and on-stage action. The show premiered in Florida's Disney-MGM Studios park on October 15, 1998, and continues to be a smash-hit success, complete with long waits for what few shows are performed and a dining package centered around a VIP experience with this one show.

It may have been narrowly edged out by Universal's Cinematic Spectactular for the WTA Critic's Choice on Versus just a few episodes ago, but keep in mind that this was a narrow victory. So, does it still pack all of that splendor, wonder, and imagination, or should Mickey finally awake from this dream? Find out with today's review!

Episode 37 - It's Tough to be a Bug!

Salutations, listeners! SurferClock here along with TAP-G to bring you the latest episode of "What's the Attraction?"

Today, we're heading down into the Tree of Life at Disney's Animal Kingdom to bring you the greatest (and simultaneously the -tiniest-) show on Earth, showing all us humans that it really is tough to be a bug! "It's Tough to be a Bug!" was there on opening day, April 22, 1998. It's a 3D movie starring Flik and Hopper from "a bug's life," interestingly not out in theaters at the time of the show's opening (the film would release that November). Despite a cast of characters that nobody really knew about at the time, the show was a hit, continuing to remain a fairly good draw on busier days. Is this show as enlightening as it claims to be, or should we be reaching for the bug spray? Find out with our review and rating!

Episode 35 - The Haunted Mansion (Part Dos)

Hello, intrepid viewers! SurferClock here along with TAP-G (and TowerGirl!) to bring you the latest episode of What's the Attraction?

Last week, we began our tour through Gracey Manor, heading through the classic Haunted Mansion attraction at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom Park. TAP-G got cold feet, as it were, and ran away like a wuss. Would be an awful shame if he were to leave behind his $37 black cowboy hat and it were in my sole possession...

Nah, he actually comes back. Did you -really- think we were going to end the show just because TAP-G shows a little cowardice now and then? No, he rejoins us and we continue and conclude our tour, finally giving our rating and review on this ride. Deep in the heart of the Magic Kingdom Park, situated in an eerie corner of Liberty Square lies one of its biggest draws...a phantom manor known by some as the greatest mixture of spooky and silly since Abbot and Costello met Frankenstein. Yes, folks, we're going to review The Haunted Mansion!

Normally, the episode contains a discussion and rating portion, but with all of the interesting things we dug up while researching this attraction, we simply couldn't fit it all into one episode. Well, that, and TAP-G's a bit of a scaredy-host, but more on that once you get into the heart of the episode. Tower Girl and Reese even join in on the fun! It's a two-parter you don't want to miss, and here's how to listen in:

HEADPHONE WARNING: Portions of this podcast get kinda loud, so you may want to turn your volume down a notch, maybe two!

As always, thank you all so much for supporting What's the Attraction? and helping us grow! It's great to be able to share our love of the parks with everyone out there. If you enjoyed it, please like our page on Facebook (it's "What's the Attraction?"), subscribe to us on YouTube, and tell a friend! Next week, tune in for the exciting conclusion (and the actual discussion and rating!) to the Haunted Mansion two-parter! See you next week.

Episode 33 - Splitsville (Downtown Disney West Side)

Hello there, listeners! SurferClock here along with TAP-G to bring you the latest episode of "What's the Attraction?"

In today's episode, we head over to the free-to-park Downtown Disney, trod over toward the West Side area, and checked out the new Splitsville bowling alley! Sandwiched between DisneyQuest and AMC Theaters Pleasure Island 24, this alley boasts a little more than your average pin-toppling place...it's got nice decor, a 50s and 60s motif, and some premium eats! We did, however, notice a bit of a crippling problem that keeps the place from being Orlando's newest and best hangout for the locals...what might this problem be, you ask? You'll want to listen in on our review to find out!

Episode 32 - Tomorrowland Speedway

Hello, listeners! SurferClock here (and finally back in good health!) along with TAP-G to bring you the latest episode of "What's the Attraction?"

We travel back toward Magic Kingdom Park at Walt Disney World and back toward Tomorrowland to take on an attraction much beloved by...well, by a few small kids who are smart enough to bring along earplugs. This is Tomorrowland Speedway. Another of the park's opening day attractions, it's gone through a couple of re-themes through the years, but we've inexplicably arrived at this themeless incarnation with its loud, noisy vehicles and noxious fumes. Is this ride worth a spin or does it just crash and burn? Listen in and find out!

Introducing: WTeamA Riffs!

Heya, folks! SurferClock here with, finally, the big reveal of the show's content that will start posting beginning tomorrow.

This segment is primarily an experiment, a "one-off" due to TAP-G being out of town for the next week. If it fares well somehow, we may bring it back on an irregular basis.

WTeamA Riffs is the name of the segment. Anyone familiar with Mystery Science Theater 3000 will know what riffing is, but for the uninitiated, riffing is essentially mocking a movie with snide, often humorous remarks and commentary. A few weeks ago, just after Episode 29, I began to try and think of some way to provide content for the time that TAP-G would be away...it felt a little strange to think I'd be doing something theme park related without my co-host by my side. In due time, and with a bit of random inspiration, I decided to get WTeamA together (consisting of TAP-G, Tower Girl, and myself) to try something new. I found a terrible B-movie, we watched it, and provided commentary for it.

Starting tomorrow, a new part of WTeamA Riffs - BIRDEMIC: Shock and Terror will be posted once a day for 7 days (one for each day TAP-G's out of town, coincidentally enough). It came out to around an hour and 45 minutes total, and I didn't want to try to drop that massive file onto YouTube all at once. Each part is no more than 15 minutes long, and it plays the entire movie's audio along with our commentary. Those wanting to watch it with the movie will be a trifle out of luck...while I'm not new to the concept of riffing, this is the first time I've tried putting one together myself, so things may be a bit wonky. Again, it's an experiment.

Rather than make a new post for every part I release, I will post the first link, and edit it to include subsequent links as they come. I hope you folks will enjoy this experiment, and once TAP-G is back in town, we'll resume the standard What's the Attraction? format. Until then, we hope you enjoy our contribution to the world of movie riffs!

Show update 2 for next week

Hey, listeners! SurferClock here to bring you Update #2 regarding the upcoming content.

Yesterday, I dropped a little hint as to the nature of the content. I've got a bit more I can share about it today. The response to yesterday's post was far better than I expected, so I think I'll drop a slightly better hint today...see who's really paying attention out there.

I mentioned that our cover artist, Kyle, wouldn't be able to do the cover art for the update ahead due to the short notice. I also let slip the possibility that it could, like those early episodes of WTA, end up as the blue background with only the words (any episode prior to Flights of Wonder posted on YouTube had this due to lack of usable cover art). While I was putting the content together, however, I got the idle inspiration to try my hand at making the cover art, what it might look like...it showed me two things: one, I'm not Kyle by any stretch of the imagination. I took art classes and drew a lot when I was in high school, but I've definitely settled into a 'style' of my own. Two, that I may actually be able to do cover art for this after all. So, there might be cover art for it, and there might not be. I don't want to confirm or deny it 'til it comes time for me to start posting.

One more hint I'm going to drop here before I conclude is that this content will be divided into parts. It's longer than 15 minutes, so it calls for division.

All the rest will be revealed tomorrow, and then Saturday, I'm going to begin posting the content. Check back here (and on Facebook, like us if you haven't already, we're under What's the Attraction?) for the big reveal tomorrow afternoon!

Show update for next week

Hello again, listeners! SurferClock here to bring you a little update as to next week's plans for the show.

As mentioned in the previous entry, this coming week will not have a standard episode due to TAP-G being out of town. This does not mean, however, that the show will be taking a break for the week...I'm experimenting with some new show content that will begin going up even before the usual show update.

The content in question will be outside of the show's canon and continuity (or lack thereof), but will contain TAP-G, SurferClock, and Tower Girl. It's a bit of a different format entirely, and though we may make references to theme parks within it, this week's content will not be a theme park or attraction review of any sort.

For all you folks who bother to check the blog, I'll leave a hint here: The content in question, I'm hoping, will leave you "MST-y eyed" with laughter.

I'll be revealing more details in the next day or two, so stay tuned!

Heya, listeners! SurferClock here along with TAP-G to bring you the latest episode of "What's the Attraction?"

Today, we head back to Universal Studios Florida to take on Woody Woodpecker's Nuthouse Coaster. Located in Woody Woodpecker's Kidzone, this kiddie coaster purports to take you through the animated bird's nuthouse factory...but is this trip 2 peas short of a pod, or do all the laughs, chortles, and guffaws bring us to our happy place? Find out with today's review!

Episode 30 - JAWS (Rest in Pieces)

Ahoy, listeners! SurferClock here once again along with TAP-G to bring you the latest episode of "What's the Attraction?"

For today's episode, the second Rest in Pieces segment, we took a look at our inbox and realized something...you folks sure do miss your classic attractions! We've received numerous requests for RIP segments we can do, and rest assured that we will get around to as many of them as we can. Today, though, we wanted to hit the former attraction with the highest number of requests, and we bring that episode to you today!

Opening with the park in June 7, 1990, it was one of Universal Studios Florida's biggest draws. Inspired by a classic film, it was this attraction that really brought to light one of Universal Studios Florida's oldest slogans: "Ride the Movies!" And nothing brought you folks closer to a classic film moment then being able to come face to face with a true terror: 30 feet long, 5 tons of terror, and it's coming right at your boat!

By popular demand, we take on JAWS and get to ride it one last time thanks to the help of Reese, the djinn that we summoned in the first R.I.P. segment (back in Episode 12), but kept around so we could employ his assistance for future segments. Here it is, folks, the moment you've been waiting for...WTA takes on JAWS!

Episode 29 - Shrek 4-D

Greetings, listeners! SurferClock here once again along with TAP-G to bring you the latest episode of "What's the Attraction?"

For today's episode, we step over toward Universal Studios Florida to take in the sights and sounds of a little place called Duloc. Over by Production Central at the heart of the park lies the subject of today's review: Shrek 4-D. It seems perfect that the park most bent on rivalling Walt Disney World would get the attraction, based on a 2001 film made by DreamWorks SKG, the company most bent on rivaling Disney's CG partner, Pixar. But does this midquel between Shrek 1 and Shrek 2 still hold up, even after the release of two additional Shrek films in the franchise, or is this film "ogre"ly outdated? Find out as we review it here for WTA!

Episode 28 - The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh

Happy New Year, WTA listeners! SurferClock here along with TAP-G to bring you the latest episode of "What's the Attraction?"

To begin this new year, we're heading back to most everyone's favorite of the Disney parks, Magic Kingdom Park, and taking a look at what most consider to be a new classic. "New classic" because it opened up in the late 90s, replacing Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, of course. Yes, today, we're journeying into the Hundred Acre Wood with many a childhood friend, but most of all, Winnie the Pooh.

"The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh" takes Guests into the stories from the film of the same name released back in 1977, which itself combined three Pooh animated shorts into one mostly-cohesive story. Aboard the hunny pot, Guests are invited through the pages, bouncing with Tigger and floating about when the rain rain rain comes down down down, amongst other such adventures.

Much controversy was had over Mr. Toad's replacement, of course...petitions, sternly written letters, and even in-park demonstrations were had to attempt to save that hell-bound amphibian. Ultimately, Winnie the Pooh still took over...but is the attraction really to be much-loved, or should Guests still be taking daily trips to Hell (no, seriously...look up Mr. Toad's Wild Ride or just ask someone who's been on it!)? Find out with our review to kick off 2013, WTA-style!
