Episode 24 - Top Ten Best Attraction Songs

Greeting once more, listeners! SurferClock here along with TAP-G to bring you the latest episode of "What's the Attraction?"

Our episode number has hit another multiple of 6 here on What's the Attraction?, so you guys know what that means: new special episode! And now we've made it back full circle to a Top Ten episode. If you recall, our 6th episode was the Top Ten Things You'll Need This Summer. It may seem a bit dated now that it's winter, but it's never too early to start preparing for next year. We'll go ahead and leave a link right here. This was before we had cover art for each episode, even.

Anywho, this Top Ten episode was one that TAP-G and I debated over for quite some time well before we reached this episode. We decided that, to make the list an actual Top Ten and not a Top Twenty, that we had to use songs that were specifically used for the attractions for which they were written. Not only did it shorten the list, but it made all the picks Disney attraction songs...can't help it if hardly anything comes out from the Universal and SeaWorld music studios.

If nothing else, consider it a tribute and a list of some of the most influential attraction songs. Some might be more familiar to you than others, but we justify each and every selection made. If you're ready to begin the countdown, go ahead and listen in!

Episode 23 - Journey into Imagination with Figment

Hello once more, listeners! SurferClock here along with TAP-G to bring you the latest episode of "What's the Attraction?"

There's nothing better than a fanciful trip through the pathways of the mind, searching out ideas and inspiration. Without the use of imagination, the world would be a rather bleak place, bleaker than this cold, grey November weather that's been overtaking Central Florida...brr!

One place you can always go for a few sparks of inspiration is the Imagination! Pavilion at Epcot, which currently houses two attractions. There's Captain EO on one side of the pavilion, the retro-callback to the days gone by for both Disneyland and Walt Disney World, but then, on the other side, inside the glass-pyramids and through the automatic double doors, you'll find the third incarnation of the Journey into Imagination, "Journey into Imagination with Figment," the subject of our review today.

It's had a rather long and storied history, starting in 1983 with the opening of the original Journey into Imagination. Its colorful halls played host to two wonderful characters, Dreamfinder and Figment. Only one of them still remains with us today, and only as recently as 2002 did Figment reappear once Disney execs found out that taking a journey into YOUR imagination wasn't quite as magical.

Controversy and storied history aside, does this third incarnation still hold up today, or might we possibly be in desperate need of more imaginative ideas? Find out with our discussion, review, and rating right now!

Episode 22 - Wreck-It Ralph

Hello again, listeners! SurferClock here along with TAP-G to bring you the latest episode of "What's the Attraction?"

Walt Disney Animation Studios recently released the highly-anticipated film, "Wreck-It Ralph," the story of a video game villain who tires of his poor treatment by not only the good guy, but the non-player characters of the game in which he resides, "Fix-It Felix Jr." To that effect, Ralph begins "game-jumping" to prove himself a hero.

What does this have to do with reviewing theme park attractions? Well, not only does Disney's Hollywood Studios have a meet-and-greet with Ralph and Vanellope von Schweetz (from Sugar Rush, another of the film's original worlds) but DisneyQuest at Downtown Disney boasts 8 cabinets with playable versions of "Fix-It Felix Jr." and we're talking genuine arcade cabinets, folks!

We're gonna tackle it all in an episode so big that even Ralph couldn't wreck it. Join us as we take on this comprehensive coverage of Wreck-It Ralph on-screen and in-park!

Episode 21 - Enchanted Tales with Belle

Hello again, listeners. SurferClock here along with TAP-G to bring you the latest episode of "What's the Attraction?"

We mentioned last week our excitement for getting to preview the completed portions of the New Fantasyland expansion that's set to open December 6th at the Walt Disney World Resort. Among the experiences we enjoyed were two brand new attractions...Under the Sea: Journey of the Little Mermaid (last week's review, if you didn't catch it...it's just a blog post below), and the attraction we're reviewing this week, Enchanted Tales with Belle.

Enchanted Tales with Belle isn't an -entirely- new experience. For those who've been traipsing WDW for a while, you might recognize it from the old Fairy Tale Garden that now plays host to the Merida meet and greet from Disney-Pixar's "Brave." This is most definitely an upgrade from that older experience, but should it have stayed in the Fairy Tale Garden, or is this tale-as-old-as-time right at home in its own New Fantasyland quarters? Listen to this latest review and hear for yourself!
